I've had one report of Rosetta crashing on an Intel Mac:
On Intel Macs, sometimes Find It! Keep It! doesn't start... it bounces a few times, then gives up. Please tell me if you encounter this bug: how often does it happen? which of the following solutions works for you?
* The problem goes away when you restart.
* The problem should go away if you kill the translated process using the Activity Monitor application located in the /Applications/Utilities/ directory before running Find It! Keep It!
* Alternatively type sudo kill all translated into the Terminal application located in the Applications/Utilities/ directory before running Find It! Keep It!
* Another solution is to sudo update_prebinding -root / -force into the Terminal application in the Applications/Utilities/ directory before running any Rosetta application. I have heard that this solution is the most reliable but the slowest.
Unfortunately these fixes only last until the next time the reboot.
Why does it happen? On Intel Macs, Find It! Keep It! runs using part of Mac OS X called Rosetta. Rosetta has a bug which affects many products (Microsoft's Office, Adobe's Acrobat, Intuit's Quicken, etc). The problem is that Rosetta assumes that the instructions that make up a program are always loaded to the same place in memory... which isn't true.
What OS version should I use? I recommend using 10.4.8 or above with Find It! Keep It! because 10.4.8 fixes some Rosetta bugs.
Please tell me which of these solutions works for you... and how often this happens for you. |

I realize that typing stuff into the terminal isn't much fun, so I put together a small application that will restart Rosetta before running Find It! Keep It!

I am told that it is safe to do this, even when another Rosetta process is running. Please tell me if this fixes your issues (or if it doesn't). If it does, I'll add it to the standard download.
